The competency matrix in AmpliFlow helps you plan and follow up on competencies across the organization.

Managing competencies in a company can be difficult. AmpliFlow has a dedicated feature for it: the competency matrix.

What is a competency matrix?

A competency matrix is an overview that shows which competencies the organization needs, which employees have them and where there are gaps. It gives you as a manager or HR professional a clear basis for planning training, recruitment and reallocation of resources.

In practice, it is a table where the rows represent employees and the columns represent competencies. Each cell shows whether the employee has the competency, what level they are at and whether it needs to be developed.

Why is it important?

Without a consolidated picture of the organizationโ€™s competencies, it is easy to miss gaps that can lead to problems. A competency matrix helps you to:

  • See which competencies are missing or depend on individual people
  • Plan training based on actual needs
  • Meet requirements in ISO standards that require the organization to ensure the right competencies (for example ISO 9001 section 7.2)
  • Prepare for staff appraisals with concrete data

Here are guides related to the competency matrix in AmpliFlow:

  • Staff appraisals โ€” how it works for you as a manager
  • Staff appraisals โ€” how it works for you as an employee
  • Adding a position or competency in AmpliFlow
  • Assigning a position to an employee
